2015 Andre Pater Retrospective Exhibition

Remarks by First Lady Jane Beshear

"Since 2009, Steve and I have presented rotating art exhibits at the governors mansion in an effort to highlight Kentucky artists and artwork. This summer (2015)  we are honored to host a retrospective exhibition of renowned sporting artist Andre Potter’s work. This is his first exhibition since his work was featured at the University of Kentucky as part of the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games.

Pater has been a member of The Bluegrass community for over 20 years and is highly regarded for his equine Art. Pater’s breath of subject matter is astounding and his ability to draw allows him to masterfully depict any subject. I am especially proud that this unique exhibit is featured at The Governors Mansion as his work includes several equine paintings dear to Steve and me.  This exhibition is a unique opportunity to view his unparalleled sense of light and use of color, a combination that has made Pater one of the world's preeminent Sporting Artist."

The Kentucky Governor's Mansion

The Kentucky's Governor's Mansion is the official residence of the people of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. It is a proud symbol of Kentucky's history and has served as home to the state's governors since 1914.

The Governor's Mansion is both a private home and a public building. It serves as the center of the first family's ceremonial, social and political activities. As each governor moves in, it takes only a few moments to realize that he or she too has become a part of history simply because they live in this place.
The Governor's Mansion is the proud possession of every Kentuckian. In 1972 it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
